Advocacy for Social Justice

Advocacy for Social Justice

“To fulfill our baptismal covenant to “seek the renewal of the world,”

St. Andrew’s participates in advocacy for racial and social justice reform.”

Mission Statement

The Social Justice Ministry supports and assists St. Andrew’s in the fulfillment of our baptismal covenant to “strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being” by providing:

  • Education to raise awareness and commitment
  • Structure and opportunities for advocacy and service
  • Ongoing spiritual prayer and support for these efforts

On January 22, 2022, the Social Justice Ministry held a two-hour virtual workshop on the the why’s and how’s of influencing legislators on pending bills that align with St. Andrew’s mission.  We covered such topics as How a Bill Becomes Law, Calls to Action, Organizing, Testifying, Rapid Response, Effective Writing and Phoning, and Upcoming Legislation.  In addition, we provided links to resources and contacts for those who lead specific types of faith-based action for the Social Justice Ministry.  Below are links to the workshop video and slides with resources.
